The Beginning

I thought I would start this blog by telling you where I came from and how I got to be where I am with regards to photography.

It all started with a camera for Christmas in 2010, photography courses in 2011, and my first volunteer photo shoot with Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue.  I thought what better way to not only get practice but challenge myself by giving back, then to volunteer photographing rescue dogs?! That simple decision has changed my life and the path of my career as a photographer forever.

As of today I have taken photos of hundreds of dogs which have helped them find "furever" homes.  Let me share some of those photos with you. :)

MMDR is still a big part of my life, and I think it always will be. I have done other work with them as well including family photo sessions with families who have adopted from MMDR or other rescues which has been an absolute blast! My plan is to make the sessions more of a fundraiser for MMDR than it already has been.

Now that I have shared where I began I plan on sharing all of the middle!  Who knows when it will end! :)

Thank you for stopping by.

  1. Very good beginning post. Love the Mutt shots, esp. the last one. If you got your first camera in 2010, then you've gone a long way in a couple of years. I've been shooting for about 40 and haven't developed your eye. Keep it up.

  2. Oh wow, thank you so much Colin!! I was always the kid with the camera taking pictures of family gatherings but it wasn't until 2010 my husband gave me my own DSLR. Having that kind of creative control over the photograph really helps bring out the artist in people I find. :) Thank you for stopping by Colin!!
